It’s been nearly three years since Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, but some things are never forgotten.
President Obama called Kanye a jackass at the time and not much has changed since September 2009.
Obama repeated the same statement to David Samuels of The Atlantic during a brief interview recently when asked which rapper he preferred most, West or Jay-Z.
“Jay-Z,” Obama says. “Although I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.”
When reminded that he once referred to Yeezy as a donkey’s rear end, Obama said his feelings hadn’t changed.
“He is a jackass.” Obama continued. “But he’s talented.”

Beanie Sigel Sentencing Postponed

Rapper Beanie Sigel will have to wait an additional two months to be sentenced for failing to report income to the federal government. Sigel, born Dwight Grant, appeared in a Philadelphia court today (April 12), where his sentencing date was postponed. Sigel is accused of failing to report income to the federal government, from 2003-2005 and though the rapper claims he owes $350,000 to the IRS, the government says he owes an upwards of $750,000 in taxes.
Today, Sigel was given until April 26 to turn in financial documentation for the years in question and his legal team has to meet with IRS agents on Friday, June 15, to come to a final agreement on the owed amount.
Sigel faces up to a total of 36 months behind bars and will be sentenced Thursday, July 12 at 10:00am.

Nate Dogg To Perform At Coachella… Via Hologram

According to TMZ (… I know), Nate Dogg will be making an appearance during Snoop and Dre’s set at Coachella this weekend.
Sources tell us, Dr. Dre didn’t want to leave Nate out of his Sunday performance — so he’s incorporating his old friend using hologram technology … the same technology that broadcast Mariah Carey’s image across Europe last year … at 5 simultaneous concerts.I can only imagine how horribly wrong this is gonna be once people start abusing the technology (and you know it will happen soon enough). Pac and Big performing together at Summer Jam 2015 and shit. Smh…
We’re told an image of Nate will be projected onto the Coachella stage — alongside Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Warren G, and Daz Dillinger — to make it appear as though he’s actually performing on stage.
According to sources, Nate will perform several songs.
Oddisee – Hustle Off

Good news.. Oddisee is gearing up to release a new album. People Hear What They See, June 12th (pre-orders available now) via Mello Music Group. And while this cut will not be featured on the LP, it sets the tone quite nicely.
This album is about influence, inspiration, perception and reality. Every song was written in an outside environment, so that I could observe the subjects that would become my subject matter. All too often in Hip Hop, reality is limited to that of the artists own, actual experiences. People Hear What They See is my attempt to liberate the MC from those constraints and allow reality to be penned other than my own. Listening to congressmen and lawyers converse on the steps of the supreme court inspired “American Greed.” Watching a couple argue over the phone in a bar inspired “Maybes.” By having a visual representation of my subject matter, my hopes are that the listener will see them through the words and melodies of my songs. – Oddisee
